Game Rules

Video Poker is a card generating casino machine, in which a player builds the best poker hand with 5 cards. The basic rules are very simple – you bet some points to get the first deal of 5 cards, choose which cards to keep and then get another deal to replace the cards you discarded - that’s your hand. All together it is called a betting round.
If the hand is high enough for the payout tables, you win. The higher the hand, the more you get paid for your bet. If you win you get the chance to play "Double or nothing" on your earnings by drawing a higher card than the dealer. If you win, you get double your payout. If you lose, you lose everything.
There are four kinds of VP machines in Vegas Video Poker, each with its own unique payout table. This means that the payout for a full house on a Jacks or Better machine may be different from the payout for the same hand on a Double Bonus machine.
  • Jacks or Better – This is the classic machine. You have to get a pair of Jacks or a better to win.
  • Deuces Wild – In this game, 2’s are considered "wild cards" – they can replace any card in the deck to complete a better hand.
  • Double Bonus – This is a variant of the Jacks or Better machine, where the payout for the better hands is more rewarding than the lesser ones.
  • Double-Double Bonus – An even more elaborate variant of the Double Bonus machine.

Neither Dale Electronics, nor Walt Farly's video slot (introduced in 1975) were too popular due to the fact that their state-of-the-art technology was not trusted by players because you couldn't see the reels spinning.
